Artists losing ground. The overall urban development squeezes art production out of the downtown, and the distribution of municipal studios slowed down by bureaucracy and lack of political will. The appropriations increases to art institutions, but the artwork production is affected in the double sense with scholarship and funding cuts and a tapered housing market. The lack of suitable workspaces forces artists into a nomadic existence, and a concentrated and undisturbed studio work suffers.
We welcome you to the opening of the exhibition: En kollektiv kraftanstrengelse for tapte saker (A collective effort for lost causes).
70 artists exhibiting drawings of real or ideal workspaces. The drawings are presented in a site-specific installation at Podium, an exhibition space in the non-commercial cultural centre Hausmania .
Dj Flyttlåda fluctuates in time to the gramophone with revolutionary dance music, and hopefully the sum of drawings and sweaty bodies generates a force field that, at least this one night, is able to hold liberal forces of evil at bay!
Kunstnere taper terreng. Den generelle byutviklingen skviser kunstproduksjonen ut av bykjernen, og fordelingen av kommunale atelierer sinkes av byråkrati og manglende politisk vilje. Bevilgningene øker til kunstinstitusjonene, men selve kunstproduksjonen rammes i dobbelt forstand ved at stipend og finansieringsordninger kuttes og boligmarkedet tilspisses. Mangelen på egnede arbeidsrom tvinger kunstnerne ut i en nomadetilværelse, og konsentrert og uforstyrret atelierarbeid blir skadelidende.

70 kunstnere viser tegninger av reelle eller ideelle arbeidsrom.
Tegningene presenteres i en stedsspesifikk installasjon på Podium, et visningssted i det ikke- kommersielle kulturhuset Hausmania.
Dj Flyttlåda svinger i gang grammofonen med revolusjonær dansemusikk, og forhåpentligvis vil summen av tegninger og svette kropper generere et kraftfelt som, i hvert fall denne ene natta, evner å holde liberalismens onde krefter på avstand!
